Shoaib Akhtar wants Ind vs Pak ODI series for COVID-19 funds
Pakistan’s former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has proposed to organize a three-match ODI series between India and Pakistan to raise funds for the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. The two countries have not played any series against each other since the 2008 terrorist attack in India by a Pakistan-based organization.
Both the countries have faced each other in the ICC tournaments and Asia Cup. Shoaib Akhtar has proposed a three-match series between the two countries during this crisis. He added, “For the first time, the result of this series will not hurt any cricket lovers from both the countries.”
Shoaib said whatever the result of the match, both teams will win. He also said that this match will be watched by a lot of viewers. Whatever money is generated from this cricket series can be distributed equally between the two countries for the fight against Coronavirus. According to him this cricket series can be organized in Dubai.
Shoaib said if India can make 10,000 ventilators for us, we will always remember this. According to him, sportsmen can only propose matches, but the ultimate decision has to be taken by the officials.
However, Kapil Dev, former World Cup winning captain of the Indian cricket team, gave his opinion on a TV channel on Shoaib’s proposal, saying “Yes it is a difficult time but I am not in favor of getting this series done. Kapil Dev said that in this pandemic situation we cannot push our players to death in any way. India has no shortage of money. If the Prime Minister of India calls for donations, then many people in India are coming forward for help. At this time the people of India only need to stay at home. It’s time to fight the pandemic. “
