India Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli recently posted a video on twitter and Instagram in which he requested the Indian people to strictly follow the lockdown guidelines issued by the government.
Kohli requests the citizens of India to maintain Social distancing and take the 21 days lockdown seriously.
In the video Virat said: “Hello,I am Virat Kohli, Today I am speaking to you not as an Indian Cricketer, but as a citizen of India. What I have seen in the last few days – people are moving in groups, not following curfew rules, not following lockdown guidelines – it shows that we are taking the fight very easy. But it is not as easy as it looks or feels.”
“I wish to request everyone to please maintain Social distancing and follow it. Please follow whatever the directives given by the government. Think how you would feel if due to your negligence someone in your family gets affected by the deadly COVID-19. Our government, our medical experts are working very hard to overcome this situation and we’ll only get success when we, the Indian Citizens, follow our duties rather than going out in groups and breaking rules. So now, I along with all of you wish to see things improve and please follow the directives of the government. Jai Hind!,” Kohli added.
The Prime Minister on Mar 24 announced a 21 days lockdown to fight against the novel coronavirus. The PM said it is an essential step to fight against COVID-19.
Most of the sporting events have been delayed or cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. BCCI also delayed IPL-Indian Premier League.
